  • Lactation Consultations

    Specialised input that aims to empower mothers with the knowledge and skills needed to overcome breastfeeding challenges and difficulties. Assisting in a successful feeding relationship with their infant.

  • Neonatal Therapy

    Specialised form of therapy designed to support the development and well-being of newborn infants, particularly those born prematurely or with medical complications. Neonatal Therapy aims at optimising the feeding and communication outcomes as well as to support overall development of premature and medically fragile infants.

  • Dysphagia

    Assessment and management of feeding and swallowing disorders with the use of both clinical evaluations and instrumental assessments. The aim of dysphagia therapy is to improve a child’s ability to eat and drink safely, minimize the risk of aspiration as well as promote nutritional intake and overall health and well-being.

  • Picky / Problem Feeders

    Assessing and managing the underlying issues that contribute to selective eating. An individualised therapeutic approach is used for each child with therapeutic principles based on the SOS Approach to feeding, Talk Tools Approach, and various other oral-motor-sensory approaches.

  • Early Childhood Intervention

    Early feeding and communication intervention aims at maximizing the child's potential and promotes successful feeding and/or communication outcomes.

  • Online Consultations

    Online/tele-consultations allows families to receive personalised therapeutic assessment and management if they are unable to attend in person consultations.

Meet Sammy

Sammy Hammond, a qualified Speech & Language Therapist, Lactation Consultant and Neonatal Therapist specialises in neonatal and paediatric feeding and early childhood intervention.

About me

About me


In 2018, Sammy started her own private practice in Cape Town, South Africa. Her expertise includes neonatal feeding and therapy, lactation, introduction to solids and paediatric feeding difficulties such as dysphagia, bottle/breast/feeding aversions and picky/problem eating. Sammy forms part of several multidisciplinary teams and believes that a holistic approach is the best way to achieve the therapeutic goals of the child and their family. 


Outside the professional sphere, Sammy is married to Matt and mommy to little Kyla and furbaby Benji. She enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, travelling and exploring foodie spots in and around beautiful Cape Town.
